Email sending issues on the server Albacore.

We have had a report that there are problems with sending emails when there is an attachment included within the mail.
It could be that the message does not arrive at the recipient.

We are investigating this and meanwhile we kindly suggest to send a message delivery notification with your email since you may not get any bounced email back.

RVSiteBuilder now available on the server Albacore.

Recently we have silently added the RVSiteBuilder on the server Albacore because it was requested. Now all customers can make a good use of this site builder, simply login to your cPanel and scroll down to the section "Software / Services" to get started.

We do not have RVSiteBuilder on every machine but we have RVSiteBuilder available for both European as well US based clients. If you are hosted on a machine that does not include RVSiteBuilder but you are interested to build your website with this tool, then do not hesitate and request your account to be transferred over to a machine that has this tool included.
This transfer will be provided as a service, of course free of charge.

RVSiteBuilder on the server R3NR produces an error

We are aware of the error and it seems to be a bug within the software itself. We'll try our best to solve the issue ASAP and report back here.

If you created your website using RVSiteBuilder then you won't have to worry about the functioning of your website. This bug only prevents you from editing, adding or creating new content to your website. Your visitors are not aware of this bug.

Fantastico has been replaced by Softaculous

Fantastico has been replaced by Softaculous which has 2-3 times as many scripts, is easier to use and is faster.

How to import scripts into Softaculous Script Installer/Update?
To import a script you manually installed or installed using Fantastico into Softaculous script installer login to cPanel, then:

Click softaculous.
Select the script (ex. phpbb).
Click Import (located top right of the page).
Select your domain and enter the directory the script has been installed at.

We'll convert all mail servers from Courier to Dovecot.

We are going to convert all mail servers at our systems to Dovecot. The conversion process should be seamless and incur no interruptions of service. The conversion will be transparent to end users and no message loss should occur either.

POP3 users might be prompted to re-download some messages, depending upon their configuration and the timing of message retrieval during the conversion process.

The pros of this system:

There are some notable differences between Courier and Dovecot. For speed optimization, Dovecot retains an index of Maildirs currently in use.
This can give individual logins process a slightly higher memory overhead than Courier login processes but the total memory consumption by all Dovecot processes will still be lower than all Courier processes in like scenarios.
Improved IMAP Support for Mobile Devices.
Support for IMAP IDLE for Dovecot mail servers, allowing near-real-time email delivery to your mobile device.
Dovecot is highly configurable.
It has BlackBerry® Fastmail support.

The cons of this system:

Dovecot possesses no native functionality to empty the Trash folder at specified intervals.
You would need to check and prune your Trash folder manually.

The server R3NR was not responsive and has been rebooted.
It is back online now and we are monitoring the running services closely.

We will be upgrading all servers to PHP 5.2.11 and Apache 2.2.14. This is a normal update and no issues or down time should be encountered.

Starting today October 19th, 2009 we will be installing a PHP security module. It should not affect any normal usage. Please open a support ticket if you have any issues and reference this notice. Possible errors will include open_basedir notices.

Kernel Upgrades

All servers will be having a kernel upgrade done which will require a reboot. The kernel upgrade is to fix a security issue.
Downtime should be at minimum.

We are currently fixing the Interchange service as well re-compiling the apache web server.

The server should come back online in apx. 5 minutes.

Saturn Migration to R3NR.

On January 22nd the server Saturn will be migrated to our new breed of server named R3NR. It is a Intel 5310 Dual Processor Quad Core server with 4 GB RAM and RAID-10 disk protection.

No changes will need to be done by you. We will automatically redirect your account to the new server. The server Saturn is being discountinued due to it being past its end of life date. Also it no longer meets our speed and reliablity standards and it is very slow compared to the new server.

We will update this annoucement with the new server details in a few days once it finished our test process.

Server Albacore is currently down

While we are working on the servers remote backup configuration the server Albacore hosted within the UK's data center BlueSquare went down and is now being investigated.
I'll update the topic as soon I have more info on this issue. This is a mistake at our end and for that we appologize.
