How to Install a Script Using Softaculous

The purpose of this tutorial is to teach you how to install a script using Softaculous. For the most part, all scripts in Softaculous install the same way, with a few minor differences.

Start by opening the main page of Softaculous. In the left hand panel is a list of scripts. Start by scrolling down this list until you find the script that you want to install. Click on the script you have chosen to install. This will open an overview of the software in the main screen of Softaculous (on the right hand side) This overview will show a description, and the average user rating. If you decide that this script doesn't fit your needs, simply click on another one. Go the Features tab of your chosen script. You can now view a full list of the features this software has. You can click on the Demo tab to try a sample of this software before installing it. When you are done looking at the demo, simply return to Softaculous. If you click on the next tab, Ratings, you can view the number of ratings this software has received, and the average rating. The next tab is Reviews, where you can read user reviews about this script.

The last tab is Import. Click on this tab. If you already have this software installed through another auto installer or manually, you can import it to be managed by Softaculous.

When you are ready, click on the Install tab. The options on this page should be similar for all scripts in Softaculous, and the defaults can be used for most purposes. In the first section, you will be asked to choose which domain. If you have multiple domains, select the one where you want this script installed from the drop-down menu. The next two boxes let you set the directory and database name which will be created upon installation. Next you set the site name and description. These can be changed later from the admin panel of the software. Finally, enter the admin password and email. Also enter a Real Name that will be displayed (such as Administrator). Click on the Install button.

You will now get a congratulations screen, letting you know that the software was installed successfully. The two links on this page can be used to go to your new site and its admin panel. That concludes this tutorial. You now know how to install software using the Softaculous program.
